State Marching Contest General Info
Posted by: | CommentsState Marching Contest
The contest will be held in the Alamodome on Nov. 3, 2009. The schedule isn’t out yet but it looks like our preliminary performance will be in the morning. We drew the 9th spot in the line up. Tickets may be purchased over the phone at 210-224-9600 or at ticketmaster.com and search Alamodome. Parking is in Lot C for $10 and there are no in and out privileges. There are other public parking lots in the area in case Lot C fills up. All parking fees are set by San Antonio. You may go to www.uil.utexas.edu to check for information about the contest. Results will be posted in real time.
The band will go to San Antonio on Monday afternoon on charter buses. We will practice at Judson High School then spend the night at The Drury Inn & Suites North, 801 North FM 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. Phone number is 210-404-1600. Many thanks to Friendswood ISD for paying for our trip and meals. If we make the finals, they will conclude around 10:00pm and the band would return to Friendswood Wednesday morning around 2:30am.
Students will sign up for rooms on Monday. When that is completed, your student will bring home a form containing their room choice. If you have any concerns about your student’s room choice, contact Mr. Dick. If you are fine with your student’s room, simply sign the form and return the form via your student by Friday. If your student takes a prescription, the form must be downloaded from our website and turned in before we leave on Monday. Student overnight bags will be inspected before departure. They should be dropped off before school on Monday, Nov. 2. Students should have warm clothes for the bus ride since we do not allow blankets on the bus.
This week’s rehearsal schedule will be out Monday. We will also have extra practices on Saturday, Oct. 31 during the morning and Sunday, Nov. 1, from 2:00pm-4:30pm. We are excited about the opportunity that the kids have before them. There are 225 some odd 4A’s in Texas and to be in the top 25 is fantastic. I know they are going to do a great job! We are all proud of them! If you have any questions please contact me. I will send out a detailed itinerary when it is complete.
