PRE-GAME DINNER THIS FRIDAY, NOV. 6
Posted by: | CommentsHaven’t sent in your payment for your pre-game tickets yet? No worries, send in your money by Wednesday and you can go directly to the buffet line without stopping at the ticket table! Pre-game dinner will be premium chicken tenders cooked up by the Knights of Columbus along with fries, salad (courtesy of Chili’s) and great home made desserts. Don’t forget, all band families are asked to prepare a dessert for 8-10 people. The dessert should be divided up into bags, plates or bowls. If not possible, we will take care of that for you. Please drop desserts off in the cafeteria from 3-4:30pm on Nov. 7th. (If you want to drop the dessert off with your child before school on the 7th, I will come by the band hall and pick them up.) Live entertainment and silent auction will add to the evening, so come out and enjoy dinner with friends while supporting the band!

Posted by: | CommentsWe still have a few seats left on the parent charter bus to San Antonio, but they’re going fast! It’s the best way to go to San Antonio - have someone else drive! The cost is $50/person, but as more sign on, the cost will go down. Don’t wait too long. Final details will be sent out Sunday evening for those who have already committed. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions - Patti Zimmerman - 713-452-0868. Please come out and support the kids!

NOV. 6 PRE-GAME DINNER REMINDER

Posted by: | CommentsState Marching Contest
The contest will be held in the Alamodome on Nov. 3, 2009. The schedule isn’t out yet but it looks like our preliminary performance will be in the morning. We drew the 9th spot in the line up. Tickets may be purchased over the phone at 210-224-9600 or at ticketmaster.com and search Alamodome. Parking is in Lot C for $10 and there are no in and out privileges. There are other public parking lots in the area in case Lot C fills up. All parking fees are set by San Antonio. You may go to www.uil.utexas.edu to check for information about the contest. Results will be posted in real time.
The band will go to San Antonio on Monday afternoon on charter buses. We will practice at Judson High School then spend the night at The Drury Inn & Suites North, 801 North FM 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. Phone number is 210-404-1600. Many thanks to Friendswood ISD for paying for our trip and meals. If we make the finals, they will conclude around 10:00pm and the band would return to Friendswood Wednesday morning around 2:30am.
Students will sign up for rooms on Monday. When that is completed, your student will bring home a form containing their room choice. If you have any concerns about your student’s room choice, contact Mr. Dick. If you are fine with your student’s room, simply sign the form and return the form via your student by Friday. If your student takes a prescription, the form must be downloaded from our website and turned in before we leave on Monday. Student overnight bags will be inspected before departure. They should be dropped off before school on Monday, Nov. 2. Students should have warm clothes for the bus ride since we do not allow blankets on the bus.
This week’s rehearsal schedule will be out Monday. We will also have extra practices on Saturday, Oct. 31 during the morning and Sunday, Nov. 1, from 2:00pm-4:30pm. We are excited about the opportunity that the kids have before them. There are 225 some odd 4A’s in Texas and to be in the top 25 is fantastic. I know they are going to do a great job! We are all proud of them! If you have any questions please contact me. I will send out a detailed itinerary when it is complete.
CHARTER BUS FOR PARENTS
Posted by: | CommentsWe are currently checking into getting a charter bus for parents to make the trip to San Antonio to support our kids in the State Competition. The timing to organize this trip will be tight. Please send an email to : mazpazaz@sbcglobal.net and let Patti Zimmerman know if you would be interested in making the trip. The cost is still an estimate - about $50/person. The bus will leave early Tuesday morning, November 3 and arrive back at the school early Wednesday morning, November 4.
We won’t know if we can get a bus and the exact costs of the trip until Monday, October 26, and at that time, will have to pay for the complete trip. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would be interested. We need to have a head count to make sure all costs will be covered. You will be contacted early next week with the details if all goes through.
