UNIFORMS

Posted by: Barbara Brunson | Comments Comments Off
The time has come to switch from marching to concert uniforms.  The girls will be signing up for fitting times this week and be fitted next week.  The boys will be fitted after Thanksgiving.  Below is information about what you must provide for concert season uniforms.
Girls:  The girls wear long black dresses provided by the school.  You must provide CLOSED toe plain black flat shoes.  Payless is a good place to get these.  You will also be responsible for having the dress hemmed.  More information will come home with them after they are fitted.
Boys:  The boys wear a tux - the jacket and pant is provided by the school.  You must provide a white tux shirt and bow tie.  If your child can still wear the Junior High shirt, that is perfect.  We do not wear the cummerbunds.  You also must provide knee high black socks. The boys may  wear either CLEAN drill masters (marching shoes)  or their own black dress shoes.  You will be responsible for having your son’s tux pants hemmed.  This can only be done BY HAND  - more information will be sent home when they are fitted.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Carrie Mendenhall at cdmendenhall@sbcglobal.net or call 281-660-9210.

PRE-GAME DINNER THIS FRIDAY, NOV. 6

Posted by: Barbara Brunson | Comments Comments Off

Haven’t sent in your payment for your pre-game tickets yet? No worries, send in your money by Wednesday and you can go directly to the buffet line without stopping at the ticket table! Pre-game dinner will be premium chicken tenders cooked up by the Knights of Columbus along with fries, salad (courtesy of Chili’s) and great home made desserts. Don’t forget, all band families are asked to prepare a dessert for 8-10 people. The dessert should be divided up into bags, plates or bowls. If not possible, we will take care of that for you. Please drop desserts off in the cafeteria from 3-4:30pm on Nov. 7th. (If you want to drop the dessert off with your child before school on the 7th, I will come by the band hall and pick them up.) Live entertainment and silent auction will add to the evening, so come out and enjoy dinner with friends while supporting the band!

PARENT BUS FOR STATE

Posted by: Barbara Brunson | Comments Comments Off

We still have a few seats left on the parent charter bus to San Antonio,  but they’re going fast!   It’s the best way to go to San Antonio - have someone else drive!  The cost is $50/person, but as more sign on, the cost will go down.  Don’t wait too long.  Final details will be sent out Sunday evening for those who have already committed.  Please feel free to call me if you have any questions - Patti Zimmerman - 713-452-0868.  Please come out and support the kids!

SEND ‘EM TO STATE IN STYLE

Posted by: Barbara Brunson | Comments Comments Off
The band will be leaving the High School for the State Marching Competition on Monday November 2 at around 12:30.  We would like to have a spirited send-off to show our support by having lots of people out there cheering them on as they get on buses and pull out!  Bring posters, noise makers, pom poms and show up 12:00-12:15pm.   I’m assuming they will load up right behind stadium, however it is a possibility they will load up in the teacher lot on the other side of the school. Just look for the charter buses!
We hope to have a police escort and will ask that he take the busses left out of the school, right on Falling Leaf, left on Sunset, right on 2351 to the freeway. We would love to have parents lined up anywhere along this route with signs.

We hope you can all make it to State Competition in the Alamodome.  We will be sitting as high up as they let us go, as close to 50 yard line as possible.  Before competition starts they usually announce  they do not allow noise makers during the competition, but we can do plenty of cheering for them as they come on and off the field!  Please come and WEAR BLUE!!!
Feel free to call Carrie Mendenhall at 281-660-9210 or Melissa Disiere at 713-824-4164 anytime for questions.
