Magazine Fundraiser Begins
Posted by: | CommentsParents,
Today, August 30th, your student received the “MAGAZINE” packet during their band class. The fundraiser ends on the 10th with packet turn in no later than the 15th. I presented them not only with the packet but also a sheet with my phone number and email on it as well as our organization #. I made several suggestions on how to raise money, like asking their parents to send a mass email to all their family and friends about the fundraiser and then request their friends to forward on to anyone they might know that enjoys magazines.
I informed them that
All payments made should be made out to MBBC
There is a small postcard booklet in the packet. Please fill out for anyone out of the area or out of state that you would like reminders to be sent to. The magazine company sends these out on 3 different occasions as a gentle reminder.
This is a 2 week fundraiser. Anyone can order any time during the school year any magazines through our organization and the club will receive the profits but during this 2 week period 75% of the profits will apply toward their spring trip fees
The gift boutique brochure is not on the QSP website so if you would like to share this with out of area or state friends please email me and I will attach it back to you. It is a good way to still make a sale even if they don’t want magazines. And the items in the gift boutique will be sent directly to the person, you WILL NOT have to make arrangements to get it to them. They just need to send you the money for the items.
Please make sure that anyone ordering online puts in our school id and your students name under the participants name.
Please don’t hesitate to call me if you need any help. Also, did run into a problem with FIREFOX. Something on that site will allow you to go the QSP.com but will not let you access the brochure online.

GAME AT DEER PARK
Posted by: | CommentsThe game at Deer Park this Friday will be treated as an out of town football game even though we are the home team. Students will eat the away game meal at the school then ride to and from Deer Park on school buses. Because this adds another away game meal to the schedule, we will collect for the extra one at the end of the season. If you wish to drive your student home after the game, please fill out an activity release note and turn it in by Thursday. The form is on our website under “forms”. Any parent taking their student home after the game must sign the student out with Mrs. Georgeton, our chaperone chairperson. Last Friday went well and I want to thank all of our chaperones and pit crew for helping out! The schedule for this Friday will be as follows:
3:45 – Eat; 4:20 – Dress in uniforms; 4:40-Inspection; 5:00-Load; 5:15-Depart; Return-11:15pm

NEW Band Management Online System – CHARMS!!
Posted by: | CommentsThe Band is transitioning to an Online Management System called Charms. This system is used by several thousand groups in Texas. The attached document is a small description of the software. We are asking all parents of band and guard students to go into Charms and update your personal information before band registration on August 8. This will help us immensely by cutting down on the time it takes to go through the lines at band registration. Here is the document for your information: NEW Band Management Online System – CHARMS!!

Welcome to another exciting year of Mighty Mustang Band! As you have learned, being a part of the band has associated costs and volunteer commitments. The Mustang Band Booster Club (MBBC) raises money through registration fees, sponsorships and various fundraisers allowing our band and color guard students the best opportunity for success! Funding from FISD alone is not enough for the students to accomplish these goals each year.
Your registration fees and participation allow MBBC to support the Mustang Band to be the best in state! This year we are offering you the opportunity to create a payment plan that fits your budget if you do not wish to pay the fees in one payment at registration in August. COLOR GUARD WINS TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SAN MARCOS
Posted by: | CommentsFriendswood High School brought home a second consecutive Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championship following an inspired performance at Texas State University on Saturday, March 27, 2010, where over 100 High School groups competed. The Varsity team is competing in the Open Class division, the highest competitive level for Color Guard in Texas. This high achievement is a result of dedication and hard work, and something to be proud of.
The Friendswood Junior High Guard took top honors as well placing first in the Cadet (Junior High Division). This is their second State Championship in the past 3 years. The Junior High is our entry-level program, giving the students a preview of color guard, and a chance to compete at an entry-level position before joining the high school program.
The Friendswood JV Guard placed 4th at State as well. Competing against only High School Varsity units they moved up 2 spots from their seeding and missed medaling by one point.
The Color Guard program at Friendswood High school is growing and succeeding by leaps and bounds. Many thanks to the Mustang Band Boosters for their continued support. Thanks also goes out for the support of FISD staff and administration, Bales Intermediate School for their continued support and allowing the Guards to use their facility for our home rehearsal site, and last, but not least, the many parents who have supported us through the years.
Color Guard Director is Ron Barnett!
FRIENDSWOOD COLORGUARD BRINGS HOME FIRST PLACE
Posted by: | CommentsFRIENDSWOOD COLORGUARD BRINGS HOME FIRST PLACE
Varsity Guard placed 1st in Open Class at the Winter Guard International (WGI) Houston Power Regional on March 22nd, 2010. They were the top high school color guard at the contest. Color guards from all over Texas and Louisiana competed at this event.
Friendswood has placed 1st in all but one contest this season. The Varsity Guard is also the top seeded Color Guard for this weekend’s Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championship in San Marcos at Texas State University. They will be attempting to claim the Open Class title to complete back to back TCGC State titles after placing 1st in A Class at last year’s state championship.
The Varsity team had been promoted to Open Class by WGI at the National competition last year in Dayton, OH, after making finals in A Class. This is a great honor for the girls, and a tribute to their hard work and dedication to the sport.
Many thanks to the staff and parents at Friendswood High school. We have come a long way in recent years, and couldn’t have done it without your support.
